"A picture of the future you want to create"

High School/High Tech (HS/HT) offers an enriched high school academic program with opportunities in science, technology, engineering and/or arts-related programming for students with disabilities who have post-secondary education (traditional, vocational, or technical college) as a goal WorkTrek (WT) offers a school and career-based curriculum that allows teens with disabilities, which are generally not college-bound, gain social, functional and employment preparedness skills required to obtain and sustain employment upon graduation.

Both components take exclusive school-to-career/post-secondary education services into the high school classroom (at the invitation of each school). Activities emphasizing both reading and mathematic proficiency are combined with career and post-secondary education experiences both in and out of the traditional classroom setting. Students are encouraged to improve their academic performance, create post-high school goals, and belong to a group where they feel welcome and valued. Throughout the program they will gain the social skills, tools and knowledge necessary to successfully face life's challenges today. The students are assisted in designing their in-school Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) and a Career Path Plan so that they are able to envision their futures, locally and globally.

This program is geared toward the WorkTrek students but does allow for High School/High Tech to volunteer/intern through being peer mentors. The program lasts two to eight weeks depending on funding for that year. A weekly fee of $25 is required but a limited number of scholarship spots are available each year. Specific dates and times will be determined as summer approaches and will be posted on line some time in late April/early May. Teens may register for the entire program or specific weeks. Any additional questions should be directed to our staff by phone or email.
