Designing Women Boutique Awards Community Haven with Grant
Designing Women Boutique recently awarded Community Haven with a grant to paint the outside of one of the organization’s residence homes. In the spirit of Community Haven’s environment, residents were presented with a variety of options and invited to select the color for their home. Appropriately, the residents of Suncoast House chose yellow.
All of Community Haven’s residents enjoy the pastoral setting of its 32-acre campus. Each of the five residence homes has a communal kitchen and living area where they share meals, watch television and entertain guests. Most residents participate in the activities at Haven Industries five days a week from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. They select the type of work they’d like to perform based on their skills and interests. Plans for the future include building a new facility for Haven Industries’ expansion and adding more residence houses to accommodate the ever-increasing waiting list.
Designing Women Boutique is a 501c3 Consignment Shop whose mission is to provide funding for the projects, programs and endowments of Sarasota’s Arts and Human Services Organizations.
