Community Haven has been serving children, teens and adults with disabilities for over 62 years! In 1954 we started out in a one room building at the Sarasota-Bradenton Airport. In the 1960’s families sold over 20,000 pounds of fruit-cakes to purchase the 32 acres our campus sits on today. In 2014, we rezoned that campus in anticipation of a growing need for services. We’ve since added our 5th group home, Marlene’s House. We have completed a $1.1 million dollar capital campaign to build a state-of-the-art Vocational Employment Center. Now, we’ve initiated plans to build our 6th group home, Mary Jane’s house. The demand for our services has never been greater, as the lives of people with disabilities grow longer through healthier, happier and more productive living.

The Sarasota and Bradenton communities, too are growing at a record pace. Community Haven used to be in the middle of nowhere. Now it is in the center of everything. As we update and modernize our campus, we decided it was the perfect time for a rebranding. No one word describes our campus better than the word “Haven”. “Haven” is defined as a place of safety; a place offering favorable opportunities or conditions. Our new logo represents the three stages of life we serve: adults, teens and children. The Haven truly is a place of safety and opportunity for people with disabilities.

On behalf of the staff, board and the clients of the Haven, we would like to offer you our sincere appreciation. Our Haven could not exist today without the support of our donors and volunteers. We are very excited about the future The Haven and developing the next chapter in a rich history of serving people with disabilities in the Suncoast community. Thank you!
